Tv shows that should have remained a concept and other pet peeves

I read a lot. Watch TV a lot. Listen to music a lot. I have always prided myself in being able to watch practically anything, read anything and listen to anything. I have lately been unsettled by the type of music being produced and the glorying of poorly executed TV shows.

I am not a great fan of romcoms, and drams but I do watch once in a while. That I subjected myself to watching The Haves and Have Nots and If Loving you is wrong is still a mystery to me. Those shows should be cancelled. The subject matter is annoying and the way the shows are directed is even more annoying. First we are told, then we are shown and then we are told again. I watched and watched hoping it would change. I do not need to be led through the story like I cannot think. Then I wanted to shoot myself. I have friends who love the shows and think I am mad to criticize so much. That I should watch the show because of the ethnicity of the majority of the actors. NOT. LIKELY.

I generally watch what I hear is not half bad, with my favourite actors, and adaptations of comics I read as a child. I just love geeking out over TV series that I really respond to. A few of the series that are on rights now specifically adaptations of films really ruined it for me recently.

I loved Legion. I love Paul Bettany and I loved him as the angel Michael. Then they had to go on and make Dominion. Which is not half bad but Tom Wisdom does not do it for me as Michael. Where is the intensity?

The Constantine TV series is really faithful to the DC Comics Hellblazer series but just about. My image of John Constantine as a seriously flawed human being is completely missing. It does not help that Keanu Reeves' Constantine is way sexier and believable than Matt Ryan's self righteous and full of it and I - am - so - much - better - than - you's John Constantine.

Granted a lot of TV has been disappointing me lately, I have to concede that it is not all a loss. Anthony Hopkins is a hard act to follow but Mads Mikkelson does a wonderful job as Hannibal Lecter and saves the day. The Outlander series is promising to be faithful to the books. Claire is just as infuriating in the series as she is in the books, and Jamie is just as imposing, human and lovable.

The Mortal Instruments series would work as a TV series. We all know what happened when they turned that into a movie.
I could do with a series dedicated to steampunk and indulge one of my pet likes.
or not.
